Yu Long was born in China in 1960 and began painting at a very early age. He graduated from the Fine Art Academy in his hometown. In 1981, he moved to Canada where he continued to grow and mature as an established painter. Yu Long's "plein air" painting style needs no introduction or explanation. Yu Long paints instinctively with his heart and his mind. He brings his paintings alive with a portrayal of Vancouver in all its seasonal splendors. Vancouver with soul. Without these qualities, his paintings will merely be a commodity, devoid of any poetic flair or substance.
Yu Long's work has been exhibited at the University of British columbia, and he also had a very successful exhibit at the World Wide Art Centre entitled "Ode to Vancouver" He also was part of "A Group of Eight" art exhibition in 2002. Yu Long is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a member of Oil Painters of America. Long received the Jury Award in the Western Art category "2002 in Motion" Juried Exhibition. Long also entered into the 11th and 12th Annual national Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils. He resides in now in Surrey, B.C., Canada.
